Jehovah's Witness and Birthdays

i know that jehovah's witness say only two birthday celebrations are spoken of in the bible and that neither were held by persons who worshiped jehovah.

or were there any other celebrations that were simular to birthday celebrations?.

inquiring minds need to know.

mizpah, jw's with unbelieving mates felt an added burden at those 'special times'. we felt hypocritical, and worried about what other jw's were thinking - even if you obeyed all borg rules. we'd even recieve special visits from the elders to check on house decorations...

research?

how many of you, like me, want answers to biblical questions but get overwhelmed by all the information to research?

the task seems so daunting that i just tend to say i'll read the cliff notes in someone's post and make my decision based on that.

i know i'm falling into the same trap that i fell into with the wbts but i guess i'm a follower and so many of you seem to have such a better handle on all this biblical stuff.

yes and yes. but i needn't be so specific. how about anything spiritual or wbts related. everything i thought i knew, is now in question.

Through everything... do you feel that you learned soemthing?

i am new to the board and have read countless gripes and pokes at "the organization" but i fail to find one interesting question.. in preface... i was disfellowshiped myself over 5 years ago.

in that time, i had done much searching, visited many churches and faithes.. going to some for as short as one session and some as long as 6 - 8 months.

after i felt my search was in vein i stopped attempting to go to these shurches all together.. i never forgot how to pray through.

yes, i have learned that i have freedom - true freedom of choice. i have learned that i have a mind and that i am supposed to use it. i have learned that i am not supposed to unconditionally agree with the fds. i learned to take off the blinders. free will of the you can't tell me what to do class. ;)
